Babati

The small town of Babati lies 70kms north of Kondoa, 172kms south of Arusha. The town is once again visited mostly by overlanders passing by traveling in the direction of Arusha or Singida. It is also the most logical base for seeing the 4th highest mountain of Tanzania, Mt Hanang and Katesh

Babati is accessible by road from Dodoma and Arusha.

Places
The only potential tourist sites are the mountains of Hanang and Katesh.

 Destinations
The Maasai Escarpment Rock Art Reserve in Kondoa and the Tarangire national park are quite close and accessible.

 Recommendations
If you are in Tanzania for a long holiday then Babati can be recommended as an extension to your northern safari. One night should suffice, unless if you want the itinerary to tie up with the nearby town of Kondoa.
